Creams, ointments, at-home exfoliators, and other skincare products can only improve the skin’s health and quality so much. For those wanting to boost their skincare routine and manage common complexion concerns, Juvanew Medspa provides microneedling treatments to stimulate collagen production and rejuvenate the skin.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment using controlled skin injury to stimulate collagen production. At Juvanew Medspa, we use the SkinPen–a cordless device that can freely move around the treatment area. The detachable tips contain 12 sterile micro-needles, allowing us to use new needles for each treatment.
The rapid pulsing motion of the needles allows for quick treatment of the area with little to no pain. For your comfort, however, we provide topical numbing cream. Most patients report that the treatment feels like light sandpaper or vibrations across the skin.
What Can Microneedling Treat?
Microneedling, while commonly used as a facial treatment, can treat nearly any body area, such as the hands, abdomen, and arms. Some of the common skin complexion concerns treated by microneedling include:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Age or sun spots
Scarring from injury
Reduced skin elasticity
Uneven skin tone
Microneedling can treat a variety of skin concerns by causing micro-damage that triggers the body’s natural healing factors. The boost in collagen production provides a form of self-healing that thickens and restores the skin.
Is There Any Downtime With Microneedling?
There is no downtime associated with microneedling, but some patients choose to take a few days to allow the redness to subside. After your treatment, your skin may appear similar to a sunburn, and this typically lasts two to four days. Our nurses may recommend some skin products to speed the healing process and maximize the effects of your treatment.
For optimal results, we recommend receiving a series of treatments. Depending on your concerns and goals, you may need up to six sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart for the best results. Deep scarring or wrinkles may require more sessions.
The best candidates for microneedling treatments at Juvanew Medspa struggle with common complexion issues such as acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, uneven skin tone, and hyperpigmentation. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones.
If you struggle with eczema, psoriasis, blood disorders, cancer, keloid scarring, cold sores, active acne breakouts, or another skin condition that may bleed or affect healing, you may not be a good candidate for microneedling.
