The Exion™ device combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy. RF technology has become increasingly popular for its skin tightening and rejuvenation benefits. The thermal energy contracts collagen fibers to tighten the skin and heats the dermis to trigger a healing response, promoting increased collagen production over time. RF energy is particularly effective when paired with microneedling because the needles allow better penetration.

During an RF microneedling treatment, the handheld Exion™ device causes controlled damage to the skin with tiny needles, simultaneously delivering radiofrequency energy. Exion™ uses AI technology and targeted ultrasound to optimize delivery and allow for full treatment with a single pass. While the needles only penetrate a few millimeters, the RF energy reaches a depth of 8mm to stimulate fibroblasts in the dermis and trigger collagen production.

Exion™ RF microneedling is typically safe for all skin types and tones. During a detailed consultation, your Juvanew provider will evaluate your skin and discuss your goals to determine if RF microneedling is right for you. We will create a personalized treatment plan based on your unique needs. You may not be a good candidate for Exion™ microneedling if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a skin infection or take certain medications, such as isotretinoin. 

The advanced Exion™ technology with artificial intelligence and targeted ultrasound allows for an efficient, single-pass treatment. An RF microneedling treatment typically takes less than an hour.

First, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. Once your skin is numb, your provider will move the Exion™ device over your skin. The microneedles will puncture the skin while emitting radiofrequency energy. You may feel warmth or tingling but little to no discomfort, and the actual procedure may only take 10-20 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Exion™ RF microneedling can treat the face, neck, and decolletage. 

Many patients notice improvements within two weeks of their Exion™ microneedling treatment. Your complexion may look brighter and clearer as the healing process clears away sun damage, pigmentation issues, and rough texture. It takes time for more collagen to develop, so optimal results from RF microneedling are seen after a few months.

You may need multiple sessions for the best outcome. Some concerns, like acne scars, require more treatments than others. Many patients see the best results with approximately four sessions every one to two months.

The results of radiofrequency microneedling typically last a year or two. Protecting your skin from sun exposure and following a high-quality skincare regimen are essential for preserving your skin’s health and radiance. Patients may have redness, pinpoint bleeding, and mild swelling after their Exion™ radiofrequency microneedling session. These side effects generally subside within a day or two. Most people don’t need any downtime after RF microneedling, though some choose to take the rest of the day off. You can typically apply makeup the next day if needed.

Your skin will be sensitive for a few days as it heals. Stick to gentle cleanses and moisturizers, avoiding harsh skincare products like acids and exfoliation. Be sure to wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure while your skin recovers.
