How Should You Prepare for Microneedling?
Microneedling is a simple, convenient procedure. There are a few things you can do before your treatment to maximize your results.
One of the most important things you can do to protect your skin before and after a microneedling treatment is to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. If you are going to be in the sun, use sunscreen with a strong SPF. You should avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 24 hours before and after microneedling.
To limit irritation to your skin, you should also stop using retinoids, exfoliants, and acid-based products like salicylic acid for a few days before and after your appointment. During your consultation at Juvanew Medspa, inform your provider of any medications you’re taking. You may need to temporarily stop taking any blood-thinning medications before the appointment.
On the day of your appointment, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, and don’t apply any lotions, makeup, perfumes, or serums.
Microneedling Procedure and Recovery
At your appointment, your Juvanew Medspa technician will apply a topical numbing cream to your face to minimize any discomfort. The procedure will take approximately an hour, after which you can return to your daily routine.
Some redness and tenderness are normal for a few days after microneedling, but this will fade. You should use a gentle cleanser and non-irritating makeup during this time.
You may notice brighter, glowing skin immediately after microneedling. The results will continue to improve as your skin heals and the effects of increased collagen develop over the next six months.
You can expect several benefits from microneedling, such as:
- Improved elasticity
- A smoother, brighter complexion
- Reduced wrinkles
- Smaller pores
- Improvements in scars and hyperpigmentation
Most people will see their best results after three or four sessions. After that, one or two treatments a year will help maintain your rejuvenated, vibrant skin.
