Our facial expressions can express our emotions, but they also cause lines and wrinkles in the skin. Botox® can smooth away these lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles. The most popular cosmetic procedure in the world gives you a more youthful appearance with just a few injections. While people love Botox®, the pricing system can be confusing.

What is Botox®?

FDA-approved Botox® works by interrupting the signals between facial nerves and muscles. With great precision, Botox® targets the muscles that pull on your skin to create wrinkles. Since your other muscles remain unaffected, you can keep your natural facial expressions without the lines and wrinkles.

How Does Botox® Work?

When you raise your eyebrows, smile, or frown, nerves signal facial muscles to tell them to contract. When the muscles contract, they pull the skin into lines and wrinkles that become deeper and more visible over time. Botox® works using botulinum toxin, a muscle-relaxing molecule. Botulinum toxin stops the activity of a neurotransmitter the nerve needs to send its signals. As a result, the muscle stops contracting, and the skin becomes relaxed and smooth.

How is Botox® Priced?

Botox® pricing can vary between locations. Each provider will have its pricing system. In general, providers can charge for Botox® in two different ways. Some may charge a basic rate for an area of the face, such as the forehead. Others charge per unit of Botox®, with the forehead usually requiring between 20 and 30 units.

According to Cosmopolitan, prices per unit of Botox® vary between $10 and $25. Average pricing for the forehead area can go from $250 to $600 or more. When looking for a Botox® provider, look for experience and certifications instead of bargains. Your provider may offer specials to make Botox® more affordable, especially if you plan to have multiple treatments.

You may have heard of Dysport®, a product that works in the same way as Botox®. Either one may work better for you, but they achieve similar results. The pricing works the same way as for Botox®, but their cost might differ.

Where Can I Have Botox®?

The most popular locations for Botox® are the horizontal lines across the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines or the “11’s”), and crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes. It also works for lines around the mouth and on the neck.

Is There Any Downtime with Botox®?

You will not have any downtime and can go back to your usual activities. Slight bruising or soreness around the injection sites may occur but fade within a day or two. Botox® makes a good “lunchtime” treatment because you can have your injections and go back to work immediately afterward.

“Amanda and Terry are super skilled at all of their services. I have been so impressed with how well they do injections and highly recommend them. They are up to speed on the latest treatments and excellent at tailoring a treatment specifically for you. The customer service is amazing. Lynda is fantastic and is super helpful with any questions that you might have and is a true asset to Juvanew. I have used many other services in NY and living out of country and it can be difficult to find someone that you can trust to be honest and make sure that you don’t have that overdone look. I am very particular about the placement of Botox and finally have found someone in TX that knows what they are doing. Juvanew is 5 stars plus!” *
