Layers of dull and damaged skin can leave your complexion looking uneven or hyperpigmented. Chemical peels offer a wide range of options for improving your skin and giving you a smoother, brighter complexion. Whether you prefer a minimal-downtime light peel or a more powerful one, your Juvanew Medspa chemical peel expert will explain what you can expect after treatment.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical or facial peels are combinations of acids used to remove the outer layers of your skin’s surface. Stronger peels work on deeper layers than lighter ones. Acids commonly included in chemical peels include lactic, glycolic, salicylic, and trichloroacetic, as well as phenol (carbolic acid). Peels can also contain components that target specific skin concerns, such as signs of aging or pigmentation problems.

Recovery Time After a Chemical Peel

Because the strength of chemical peels varies widely, the recovery experience can be very different depending on the type of peel you have. Light peels typically have no downtime at all, and you can return to your usual activities without delay. Our strongest peel will result in five to seven days of redness and minor peeling, so you may prefer to avoid social interactions during this time. We can help you choose the peel most appropriate for your goals and lifestyle.

Sun protection and avoiding sun exposure are vital after any type of chemical peel. Your rejuvenated skin will be very vulnerable to UV damage. Neglecting this step will lead to your sun damage and signs of aging returning more quickly.

What Types of Chemical Peels are Available?

Your Juvanew Medspa team offers several types of chemical peels.

PCA Peels

These peels come in a range of formulas appropriate for most people and for different types of skin concerns. They are often recommended for fine lines and wrinkles, textural issues, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. PCA Peels generally require no downtime.

Chemical Peels Consultations Available

TCA Peel

This peel uses the more powerful trichloroacetic acid as well as glycolic acid. It also includes a post-treatment cream applied to the skin to prevent inflammation. The TCA Peel is recommended for those who want faster results or want to address more significant skin issues.

SkinCeuticals Micro Peels

The SkinCeuticals Micro Peels are gentle enough for almost anyone’s skin. This three-step process, which also usually includes an at-home skincare routine with SkinCeuticals products, can address a wide range of concerns without downtime or discomfort.

How Many Chemical Peels Will I Need?

Each person’s skin responds differently to chemical peels. We will also consider your schedule, lifestyle, and overall goals. If you have SkinCeuticals Micro Peels, you can expect about six sessions to see your best results. Most people need three to six PCA Peels, depending on the type of peel. A TCP Peel is stronger, so you may need about three treatments.
