If you are like most of us, you have more than one skin problem you would like to solve, whether you struggle with signs of aging, textural issues, or hyperpigmentation. Microneedling can address all your skin concerns to give you the brighter, firmer look you want with results that last. Even better, almost anyone can take advantage of this skin rejuvenating treatment.Â
What is Microneedling?
Also known as collagen induction therapy because of its ability to stimulate new collagen formation, microneedling is a widely used and effective way to improve the texture and clarity of your skin. At Juvanew Medspa, we offer Exionâ„¢ RF microneedling. In addition to creating tiny channels in your skin that trigger new collagen development, it uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to enhance and boost the renewal process.
Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?
The best way to find out for certain whether you are a candidate for any treatment is to visit us so we can assess your skin and discuss your goals. In general, good candidates for microneedling are healthy adults who have reasonable expectations and want to address a range of skin concerns.Â
Unlike many light-based treatments like lasers, Exionâ„¢ RF microneedling is safe for any skin type and tone. However, you should not have this treatment if you have certain medical conditions or if you tend to form keloid scars. Microneedling is also not recommended if you are pregnant. It should only be performed on healthy skin, so let your Juvanew team know if you have irritation or an active skin condition in that area.Â
What Can Microneedling Treat?
Microneedling improves your skin by stimulating the production of new collagen that makes your skin firmer and smoother. At the same time, it initiates a healing and repair process that brings healthy new skin cells to the surface to renew your complexion. We may recommend microneedling for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity
- Sun damage
- Hyperpigmentation
- Uneven texture
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scars (and other types of scars)
Is There Any Downtime With Microneedling?
You can expect to see some minor redness and swelling for a day or two after Exionâ„¢ RF microneedling. While no downtime is required, you may prefer to take the rest of the day off to let the redness subside. You can usually wear makeup the next day, although your skin will remain sensitive for a few days, so avoid irritating or strongly scented products.Â
How Many Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?
Most people will need a series of treatment sessions to achieve their goals, although the number depends on factors such as the skin issues being treated. Deep textural issues like acne scars will usually require more sessions. The average treatment schedule is four sessions spaced one to two months apart.
